We held our first screening on the East Coast at Washington International School in Washington, D.C.! It was a beautiful evening and we are so grateful to the leaders at WIS who sponsored this event and allowed us to bring two of our players, Eliza Collings and Aliyah Bugingo. We got to reunite with our Secret Service agent bestie, ShaJuan, and got to meet legendary human rights activist, Jack Healey. (See photos below!)
AUDIENCE REACTION
I met the #SheBelongs Refugee Soccer Team in Auckland, New Zealand and was completely drawn to their efforts of making a difference in every girl’s lives everywhere. The screening shows a glimpse of what these girls are facing in our global community. I was in awe of Aliyah and Eliza’s poise during the Q&A part of the program. They answered each question with grace and truth and I couldn’t believe that they are in high school. Hearing their different stories from a non-refugee girl and a refuge girl displayed that we have more in common and that we all deserve a chance for our voices to be heard. Everyone needs to see this life-changing documentary to ignite change in the world. I am excited to work with #SheBelongs and to be a part of history.
